At Overnewton, our commitment to service leadership extends far beyond the classroom. We believe in giving back to the community, both locally and across the country, through meaningful partnerships that reflect our values and enrich the lives of our students.
Whether through charitable giving, cultural exchange, or elite sporting opportunities, our partnerships are built on trust, mutual respect, and a shared belief in creating a better future. Together, we are shaping confident, compassionate learners who are engaged in the world around them.
Overnewton is proud to be the first football partner school of Melbourne Victory Football Club, offering students a unique and enriching sporting experience. This exciting partnership reflects Overnewton’s commitment to excellence in both sport and student development, providing access to professional coaching, elite training, and exclusive A-League opportunities.
Through this collaboration, students receive expert training from Melbourne Victory academy coaches, developing technical ability, tactical awareness and a deep love for the game. The program also instils important values such as teamwork, resilience, and leadership, perfectly aligned with Overnewton’s holistic approach to education.
Students also enjoy exclusive match-day experiences, behind-the-scenes events, and player interactions. Whether aspiring to play competitively or simply wishing to improve their confidence and skills, students at Overnewton benefit from unparalleled access to the very best of football education.

Since 2017, Overnewton has proudly partnered with Shepherdson College in Galiwin’ku, on Elcho Island in the Northern Territory. Known as our Yapa (sister) school, Shepherdson is at the heart of a deeply valued and reciprocal cultural exchange program that embodies our commitment to service, learning and reconciliation.
This unique partnership gives students from both communities the opportunity to connect, learn and grow together. Each year, students and staff from Shepherdson College travel to Melbourne to experience life at Overnewton, including classroom activities, cultural visits, city excursions and time spent with host families. Their visit begins with a Welcome to Country on Marin Balluk Country and is enriched by learning about Wurundjeri culture and community.
In turn, Overnewton students and staff travel to Galiwin’ku, immersing themselves in Yolŋu culture, language and community life. Through shared learning experiences such as Learning on Country expeditions, traditional dance, art, storytelling and time with Elders, students gain a deep understanding of two-way learning and cultural exchange. Our teams are often formally adopted into local clans, a gesture that reflects the strength and sincerity of this connection.
The program is further enriched through initiatives such as the Galiwin’ku Opportunity Shop, launched through a community-led clothing drive at Overnewton, and the delivery of books, educational resources and student-made meals that build a spirit of service and empathy across both schools.
This partnership has a lasting impact. It fosters mutual respect, cultural understanding and lifelong friendship, while offering powerful learning experiences that shape the character of every student involved.
We are honoured to continue walking alongside the Galiwin’ku community, developing this relationship in close consultation with the Principal and leaders of Shepherdson College.
As our local Anglican charity partner, Anglicare Victoria plays a vital role in our commitment to service and compassion. Each year, Overnewton families contribute generously to fundraising campaigns, Christmas giving initiatives, and food drives supporting local families doing it tough.
Through this partnership, students learn the importance of empathy, generosity and practical action in their communities — values that lie at the heart of Overnewton’s mission.
Our partnership with the Anglican Parish of St Luke’s Sydenham reflects our shared faith foundation and strong commitment to local community building. Overnewton students and staff regularly support the parish’s mission and outreach activities, participating in intergenerational programs, local events, and church-led initiatives that strengthen community ties.
Together, we are proud to live out our Christian values in practical and purposeful ways.
We acknowledge and pay respect to the Marin Balluk people of the Kulin Nation, the Traditional Custodians of the Land on which Overnewton Anglican Community College stands. We respect the knowledge that will be forever embedded within the Aboriginal Custodianship of Country and remember the loss of cultures, languages and Lands they have endured. Like the Marin Balluk people, we at Overnewton want to respect the Land, the cultures and the heritages, and learn from those who have come before us in the passing on of knowledge and the teaching of life skills, as well as continue with wise stewardship of our buildings and grounds. We honour their custodianship of this Land and offer them our deep respect.
